A fine and stylish antique African Ashanti carved wooden stool dating from the 19th century. This stool has a bowed seat raised either end with a drilled design to either end. The seat has an ornate carved central openwork support which sits on a layered foot. The wood around is well worn from use and the wood has a wonderful rich dark age patina with age under the foot as would be found only on a genuine period example.
